Edible oil producers worldwide rely on Alfa Laval know-how to remove impurities and volatile components and optimize refining processes.
Professional Process of Soybean Oil Production
The production of commercial soybean oil is complicated. Below are the main steps of the soybean oil production process. Cleaning Section of Soybean Oil Production: The soybeans are first cleaned, dried and dehulled prior to oil extraction. The soybean hulls needs to be removed because they absorb oil and give a lower yield.
The ever-increasing demand for soybean in Africa saw an increase in the land dedicated to soybean cultivation in 2016 exceeding 1.5 million hectares. The development of new rust‐resistant varieties and high‐yielding lines that have adapted to production in African climates now faces a sellers’ market.
Refining Vegetable Oils: Chemical and Physical Refining - Hindawi
1. Introduction Vegetable oils and fats are important constituents of foods and are essential components of our daily diet [ 1 ]. Vegetable oils are obtained by mechanical expelling or solvent extraction of oleaginous seeds (soybeans, rapeseed, sunflower, etc.) or oleaginous fruit like palm and olive [ 2 ].
In general, 78–80% of the grain is transformed into bran, and 18–20% of the grain results in oil, the remainder being fibrous material from the low value-added shell used as feed [ 6 ]. Soybean seeds contain on average 40% protein, 20% lipids, 34% carbohydrates (soluble and insoluble), and 4.9% ash.
