Bioactive Phytochemicals from Peanut Oil Processing By
First Online: 22 March 2023 305 Accesses Part of the Reference Series in Phytochemistry book series (RSP) Abstract Peanut ( Arachis hypogaea L.) kernel contains high oil content (45–55%). Soxhlet extraction, hydraulic pressing, screw pressing, and cold and hot pressing are the common techniques employed to recover peanut kernel oil.
Step 1: Cleaning. After harvesting groundnut are received at processing facilities. Batches of harvested peanuts will contain whole peanuts in the shell, some shelled peanuts, and foreign objects (e.g., leaves, nodes, weed seed, etc.). The peanuts are then cleaned using cleaning machine so that oil is not contaminated with foreign materials.
Cold pressed peanut (Arachis hypogaea L.) oil
Abstract Peanut kernel contains high oil content (> 30%), and cold pressing is a common technique to recover oil from its kernel. Cold pressed peanut oil is composed mostly of unsaturated fatty acids, predominantly oleic and linoleic acids. Moreover, the oil is also rich in bioactive components such as tocopherols, phenolic acids, and phytosterols.
Abstract Groundnut oil (GNO)/peanut oil is one of the agro-food products with great economic value and hence an attractive target for adulteration and mislabeling. Simple Sequence Repeats (SSR) are markers of choice for DNA fingerprinting studies as they exhibit high polymorphism due to variable number of repeats.
Arachis hypogaea - an overview | ScienceDirect Topics
Arachis hypogaea L., a member of the legume family ( Fabaceae ), is an annual that measures about 30–50 cm in height ( Figure 103.1 ). The leaves are alternate and pinnate with four leaflets (two opposite pairs; no terminal leaflet); each leaflet is 1–7 cm long and 1–3 cm broad. Peanut flowers are borne in axillary clusters above the ground.

Oil Content, Oil Yield and Fatty Acid Profile of Groundnut
A high amount of good-quality vegetable oil in seeds has an overwhelming contribution to the groundnut (Arachis hypogaea L.) cultivation throughout the world. In order to take into account great variation in oil characteristics in Arachis subspecies and botanical varieties, 256 groundnut genotypes including ICRISAT’s mini core collection were investigated. Significant variability in oil ...
Cultivated peanut or groundnut (A. hypogaea L.) is among the most important oil and food legumes, grown on 25 million ha between latitudes 40° N and 40° S with annual production of ~46 million ...

There are two main types of industrial peanut oil-processing methods: high-temperature pressing and cold pressing. More than 90% of peanut oil production in China is performed by the traditional technique of high-temperature pressing . The aromatic roasted peanut oil obtained by this method is more popular with consumers because of the strong ...
Traits such as seed weight, shelling percent, percent sound mature kernels, and seed dormancy determines the quality of peanut seed. Few QTL (quantitative trait loci) studies using biparental mapping populations have identified QTL for seed dormancy and seed grade traits. Here, we report a genome-wide association study (GWAS) to detect marker–trait associations for seed germination, dormancy ...
